Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith and his brother Chris have teamed up to write a children's book titled "HoopSmiths," which comes out today, September 18. "HoopSmiths" is inspired by J.R.'s journey on and off the court with his brother's own journey, and how they have to work together to make it to the league.
The book description reads, "J.R. and Chris both have dreams of playing in the NBA, but they quickly realize they can’t do it alone. Join these two brothers on their quest of commitment as they learn the value of teamwork and work toward achieving their ultimate goal!"
Chris Smith, J.R.'s younger brother, was briefly a member of the New York Knicks during the 2013-14 season and has also played professionally in Canada and Israel. J.R. is still under contract with the Cavs until the summer of 2020.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, a portion of the book's proceeds will go to the JR Smith Youth Foundation, which is geared towards serving underprivileged youth.
