There's no doubt that Chance The Rapper has used his platform as a high-profile artist to help out his community. In fact, it feels like Chance has been putting more of an effort over the past year into helping people in Chicago as much as possible. People have thought that Chance would be a perfect candidate to run for mayor of Chicago. Although he's only 25-years-old, it looks like he's teasing the possibility of jumping into politics.
Earlier today, Chance The Rapper teased the idea of running for Mayor of Chicago, now that Rahm Emmanuel is stepping down. The rapper tweeted, "Im thinkin maybe I should," which prompted fans to believe that he'll be announcing his candidacy for mayor. The tweet is a quote from one of Chance The Rapper's songs, "Somewhere In Paradise" which features fellow Chicago natives R. Kelly and Jeremih. On the track, Chano raps, "They say I’m saving my city, say I’m staying for good / They screaming ‘Chano for mayor,’ I’m thinking maybe I should.”
Shortly after, the rapper took to Twitter to announce that he'll be holding a "press conference regarding Chicago Mayoral Election." The announcement is set to be made at 10 a.m. CST at the Chicago City Hall.
"City Hall pull up," he tweeted along with the poster.
While it won't be that shocking if Chance announces that he's running for mayor, it'll certainly be exciting for not only Chicago, but for the hip-hop community at large.
