Earlier this month, we reported that Shaun Weiss, the actor who played Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, was arrested. Weiss looked unrecognizable in his mug shot. After years of drug abuse, the actor had shriveled into a shell of his former self. Officers arrested Weiss for public intoxication while high on drugs. The suspected drug of choice was meth, although police never confirmed what substance they believed he was on. They let him go after allowing him to sober up behind bars. Last year, Weiss was sentenced to 90 days in jail for the possession of meth, just days after he was also sentenced to serve 150 days in jail for stealing $151 worth of materials from an electronics store. The evidence all pointed to one fact, Weiss was an addict.
On Tuesday, Weiss announced on Facebook that he was checking into rehab. "At this time, in an effort to break free from the self destructive patterns of behavior and drug abuse that have landed me at rock bottom," wrote Weiss. "I have checked in to a well reguarded (sic), long term rehabilitation center. I have surrendered to the reality that without immediate treatment my life is in eminant (sic) danger. My spirit was until recently depleted, weak and shrouded by darkness has been renewedby (sic) the overwhelming out-pouring of love and support from fans of my early work as an actor."
