"Aquaman" makes a large debut.

In its premiere in China, two weeks ahead of its scheduled release in the United States, Warner Bros.' Aquaman has debuted with $93.6 million, breaking the record for the largest opening ever in China for a Warner Bros. film. The next best showing was from Ready Player One, with Aquaman surpassing it by 66 percent.

The film now logs first-week earnings that are already 92 percent ahead of Justice League, 78 percent ahead of Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice and surpasses the lifeitme earnings of Wonder Woman. It also dominates 85 percent of the market share with the largest industry opening of December.

The decision to launch in China first and other foreign markets before coming through on the domestic front was out of an effort to beat the year-end sprint of holiday films and proves to be paying off fairly well.

The flick stars a cast that includes Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Momoa most recently hosted the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, reprising his role as Game Of Thrones villain Khal Drogo in a sketch alongside Kenan Thompson.

Next week, Aquaman will continue to roll out in foreign territories before officially make its debut in the United States on December 21st.
