The 50th Anniversary of the Elvis Comeback Special was reportedly taped this week to honour Mr. Presley and his iconic 1968 TV airing that pulled in NBC’s highest-rated show of the season. To celebrate the music milestone of the late rock star, NBC rounded up some of the hottest musical acts to pay a tribute to Elvis in the form of a live taping at the NBC headquarters.
The Blast reports that Post Malone, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Little Big Town, Mac Davis, and Darius Rucker were all apart of the event that was filmed over the course of two days with a live audience. Each artist performed some of Elvis' best hits in their own rendition and also had pre-recorded songs from Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara, Yolanda Adams, and John Legend.
The special will also include rare interviews and footage of Elvis and will officially air in 2019.
Post is no rookie when it comes to Elvis' music, earlier in the year the "Better Now" artist did an impromptu performance at a Nashville bar singing hits from Elvis like his 1954 track, "That's All Right." Check it out here.
