The gizmo may also act as a transit card as well.

new report published on The Information claims that Apple will be extending the capabilities of the iPhone's NFC chip, which may allow an individual to unlock their car or house door with a simple swipe of their finger. The company's employees have enjoyed the benefits of this technology for years, as it has been programmed within their headquarters in order to unlock doors and entire buildings.

Furthermore, Apple has reportedly been in talks with Cubic, a company that manufactures cards that makes paying for public transportation more seamless. While mobile-based payment solutions have been implemented in select cities around the world, a joint venture with this massive corporation would effectively transform an iPhone into a transit card for millions of individuals on a global scale.

While reports remain speculative as of now, many believe Apple will announce this communication chip evolution, which was developed with the help of HID Global, during the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, which will commence on June 4.
