Rick and Morty is the most successful adult cartoon amongst millennials. It has shot past Family Guy and South Park to become a pop culture phenomenon, and it's easy to see why. The convoluting plots and twisted humor used in the series can be attributed to the show's co-creator Justin Roiland. Roiland plans on taking the same unique method of storytelling from television to video games. He's been hard at work on new Rick and Morty episodes, but he is also committed to his video game publishing and development company Squanch Games.
Speaking with Variety, Roiland revealed his intentions to focus on the launch of his upcoming video game, Trover Saves the Universe while still creating new episodes of Rick and Morty. “I’m figuring out a way,” Roiland stated during an interview in the middle of E3. “We had a big meeting just discussing the balance. ‘Rick and Morty’ is incredibly important, but I can do both.” The official synopsis of the new game sounds like it was written by a character straight out of the hit Adult Swim television show. "Wonderful. Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe," reads the synopsis. It continues to get weirder. "Does that make any sense? You following me on this? Well, either way...only you and Trover can track this son of a b**** down, so you can get your dogs back, save the universe, and then beat your little ringle shnluders off together...IF you know what I mean. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: (to be clear, not talking about masturbation here.)" Trover Saves the Universe has yet to receive an official release date.
