The network has found a way to continue production on the hit series.

Roseanne Barr's racist Twitter tirade resulted in the comedienne being ousted from her hit sitcom reboot, which routinely baited millions of viewers with each successive episode. The abrupt cancelling meant that the cast and crew would effectively be out of a job, a disconcerting reality that could have been easily avoided had Barr not spewed such troubling sentiments.

However, ABC has announced that the network has picked up a Roseanne spinoff that will debut later this year. The series will be titled The Conners, and will replace its predecessor in the 8 p.m. time slot on Tuesdays, effectively ousting its eponymous matriarch.

Deadline notes how John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman will return as cast members, whilst Barr will have no financial or creative connection with the upcoming reboot.

ABC has not yet revealed how its infamous star will be written out of the series, but promises to depict the Conners' lives after "a sudden turn of events."

The stars of the forthcoming spinoff have released a statement regarding ABC's decision to green light the series. "We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience. We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter."
