Mariah Carey has finally sold the engagement ring given to her by James Packer two years ago. The piece of jewelry is reportedly worth $10 million, and is part of a financial settlement she made in 2017 after splitting with the Australian businessman.
Carey's publicist exclusively told Page Six that "Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity. That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend."
A source reveals how the "We Belong Together" songstress had one of her business managers pawn off the ring to a Los Angeles jeweller for $2.1 million.
"A confidentiality agreement was signed, but the jeweler is currently selling it, and there’s only one such ring," the source continues to note. "Mariah Carey’s public relations people are desperately trying to keep the story from the press, and have threatened the jeweler with litigation if he discloses her name."
Furthermore, an insider working for Carey staunchly rejected any notion that this sale was to better the singer's financial state, indicating how she "owns multiple homes, her entire catalog of music, and she’s had numerous successful tours and residencies."
