Following a UFC Fight Night event on Sunday in Liverpool, England, Dana White shared his intentions to meet with Conor McGregor in Las Vegas to being contract talks over a possible blood match with Light Weight title holder Khabib Nurmagomedov. You may recall the incident in Brooklyn during the lead-up to UFC 223 when McGregor attacked a bus he thought was carrying Nurmagomedov. McGregor was reportedly sticking up for his friend and teammate Artem Lobov, who was being taunted by Nurmagomedov and his entourage. McGregor was eventually freed on bail, and charges were dismissed. Dana White has decided to reinvest in his UFC fighter, there's too much to gain or lose from splitting ways.
Nurmagomedov, a perfect 26-0, won the lightweight title at UFC 223, a day after the bus attack. When asked to comment on the likelihood they should meet, Dana White was quite candid. "I'm pretty confident (a light weight title shot) is a fight that Conor wants, and I'm pretty confident that is a fight Khabib wants. So yeah, I could see that happening." White expressed in confidence.
McGregor, the former title holder at Light Weight, has not been in action since his 10th round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather last August. A fight in Las Vegas against Khabib Nurmagomedov would be his first action in a long time, if you don't count his confrontation with the Passenger Vehicle as a two-way scrap.
