Deadpool is now Pikachu.

We may not have noticed it until Deadpool came around, but Ryan Reynolds has one of the most animated voices in Hollywood. You didn't even have to see his mouth moving or his facial expressions behind that thick red and black mask, but every ounce of emotion in his words was felt. From sarcasm to sadness, anger to motivation, Reynolds was magnificent at selling the emotions behind the mask. Now, he is set to voice Pikachu in the upcoming Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.

The first trailer for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu has touched down, and it's just as weird yet mesmerizing as you would imagine. Justice Smith, from The Get Down and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, plays Tim. Tim has lost all hope of becoming a Pokemon trainer, and when his father goes missing, his life really takes a turn for the worse. That's when Reynolds' Detective Pikachu appears, ready to assist Tim. Much like in Dr. Dolittle, Tim is the only one that can understand his furry friend. While everyone else just hears Pikachu saying "Pika", Tim hears Reynolds' voice clearly. After watching Deadpool a number of times, it's hard to watch Reynolds as Pikachu without expecting him to drop an F-bomb at some point (he doesn't).
