Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's relationship started going downhill after Mac passed away.

One of the most surprising pieces of news from this weekend was Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's break-up. After the two had gotten dozens of tattoos to commemorate their love, they seemed destined to at least spend a couple of years together. Her fans seemed to embrace him, welcoming Pete into their world, but after Ariana's ex Mac Miller passed away earlier this year, things started going seriously downhill for the formerly engaged couple.

Ariana and Pete are no longer engaged to be married and, according to TMZ, Mac Miller's death was the tipping point that led to their split. Obviously, Grande has been grieving the passing of her former partner, cancelling shows to focus on her own wellbeing and showing signs of emotional distress. The pop star had tweeted a few days ago, asking if she can have "just one day," which caused her fans to worry. The publication is writing that after Mac's death, Ariana was brought to an "extremely dark" place where she could no longer be fully invested in her relationship with Pete. Grande does not blame herself for the way things turned out with Miller as TMZ notes that she feels she did everything she could to get him back on the right track.

The signs of their split were definitely there despite the couple showing a united front in public just one day before reports started coming out. Pete Davidson had just gotten one of his more prominent Grande tattoos covered up a few days prior.

Neither Davidson nor Grande has commented on the split. We'll keep you updated once/if they do.
