Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was much better than I expected. At first, the thought of Hollywood digging up Robin Williams' classic was abhorrent to many, but the final product erased all worries. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson were magical, and Jack Black, Nick Jonas, and Karen Gillan completed an immaculate cast. A sequel is in the works, and The Hollywood Reporter states that Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina is in talks to join the cast.
Awkwafina's role is being kept under wraps but it is being called “key” and “significant.” Jake Kasdan is set to return and direct after helming the $962 million-grossing film. Although the next Jumanji film will be the third in the series, it's being dubbed Jumanji 2 by fans online. The official title has yet to be revealed, and the method in which Hart and Dwayne's characters will make a comeback is still anyone's guess. Awkwafina had a breakout 2018. She starred in Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians, two films that were heavyweight hits with the lucrative female demographic. Awkwafina will be continuing her success in 2019 with a self-titled Comedy Central series and starring roles in two independent films entitled The Farewell and Paradise Hills.
