Eminem & Redman's First Collaboration Was "Off The Wall"

Despite only having rapped together once, Eminem and Redman's chemistry was exceptional.

It's no secret that Eminem and Redman are one of hip-hop's most respected friendships, consistently singing each other's respective praises. Yet sadly, the pair only linked up on record once; technically twice, if you count Eminem's production on Red's "I See Dead People." When they did link up back in 2000, it was on the unlikeliest of places - The Nutty Professor II soundtrack. Perhaps a worthy home for a song like "Off The Wall," as zany, twisted, and maniacal as Eddie Murphy in a fatsuit.

"Probably got a fanatic waiting upstairs in the attic, with an automatic calling me up there," spits Em, at the arguable height of his lyrical dexterity.  "My man, Stan, with a gat in his hand, staking my house out in a tan, tinted sedan." Never one to be outmatched, Redman matches Em's pace and then some, going back and forth with his own imaginative bars. "Flash the gat, your town, bogarting, your wallet, your chain the main target," he menaces. "Beef is like cold engine - don't start it, bust in the air and hit an airplane pilot."

Respect to Doc and Slim, and let us hope that they once again find their paths crossing on wax. Do you remember this one?

Quotable Lyrics

Popped the trunk and pulled out the shotgun pump
Knock wood, it's all good; thank God for vodka
Cause wit my luck, I'll probably get shot by a stalker
Probably got a fanatic waiting upstairs in the attic
With an automatic calling me up there
My man, Stan, with a gat in his hand
Staking my house out in a tan, tinted sedan
Pull your mouth out till you can't finish a damn
Ham sandwich, or your can spinach and Spam
