The Los Angeles Rams improved to an NFL-best 9-1 on Sunday with a 36-31 victory against the division rival Seattle Seahawks. Once again, third-year quarterback Jared Goff was stellar, throwing for 318 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. More importantly, Goff managed to catch the attention of Halle Berry with a perfectly-timed "Halle Berry!" audible early in the first quarter.
The play call, which you can hear clearly in the video embedded below, only resulted in an eight-yard pass to tight end Tyler Higbee but it meant much more to Goff once he found out Berry had seen it. According to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry, "Goff became a giddy kid when told in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum locker room following the Rams' 36-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks that Berry tweeted about his pre-snap shoutout."
Per ESPN:
"Wait, hold on, are you serious?" Goff said. "She heard it!"
"It's so funny," Goff said. "The thing is, when [McVay] called it, I was like, 'It's so quiet right now, this is going to get on TV.'"
But the coach did say that if Berry was asking, to tell the Oscar-winning actress that it certainly was meant as a compliment.
"She's a very attractive woman that players know," McVay said. "And it's related to the play."
Goff wouldn't reveal the X's and O's behind the play but he did respond to Berry, "it's my favorite play ever."
The Rams will host the 9-1 Kansas City Chiefs in a marquee matchup on Monday night in Week 11, which could be the perfect stage for another Berry shoutout.
