The 90's was a magical time. I remember the days when almost nobody had a cell phone, the internet had yet to take over, and hanging out with friends usually involved outdoor activities. Forming a crew, and riding together, took much more effort in the 90's than it does now. You couldn't start a group chat to get everyone involved, and the only face time was when you were actually face to face with someone. Friends had to physically seek each other out, hip-hop was still in the Golden Era, and shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin were the prime comedies to watch. Jonah Hill is looking to bring that nostalgic feeling back with a new film that he wrote and directed.
Entitled Mid90's, Hill's new vision will mark his directorial debut. The film focuses on 13-year-old Stevie, a skater who is trying to find his place in the world. A trailer for the film was released today (July 24), and from the looks of it, Hill has crafted a dramatic and heartwarming coming-of-age flick. Stevie struggles at home, but makes new friends and begins his adventures with women in the trailer, which features a hypnotic blend of original songs that morph into their sampled counterparts. Mid90s drops on October 19.
