Before Zack Snyder helmed Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League, he brought another DC Comics property to life. Watchmen was a visually stunning, yet tediously drawn-out, comic book adaptation that came out in 2009. The film barely broke even at the box-office, and critics had split emotions when it came to Watchmen. The movie did have several amazing elements, and the potential to be a blockbuster. HBO saw that potential, and scooped up the rights for a series. Now, several key cast members have been revealed.
According to Variety, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, and Andrew Howard have all best cast in the show. Regina King is set to play the leading role, which has yet to be announced. The series will not follow all the same heroes as the film, and instead, new ones will be introduced. The Leftovers and Lost creator Damon Lindelof will be bringing Watchmen to life, and told Variety, “Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks.”
