The father of Philadelphia 76ers' reserve forward Mike Muscala has become a thorn in the side of his son's progression with the team. Mike's father Bob Muscala has been running a burner Twitter account named "MuskieBobber," guilty of sending out racist and antagonistic messages to other NBA players and coaches, including a critical review of Jimmy Butler's conduct with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Yesterday afternoon, Sixers' GM Elton Brand issued a statement in response, condemning the "inappropriate and offensive social media posts from Bob Muscala," the Twitter handle has since been deleted. Brand's statement was short and to the point: "Simply put, they are unacceptable (the Tweets) and in no way reflective of the beliefs of our organization."

An understandably embarrassed Mike Muscala chimed in as well, distancing himself from the comments altogether. "His comments were uncalled for and inappropriate, and they do not reflect who I am," said Muscala, who then applauded his coach and general manager for handling the situation in a diplomatic manner. Mike was acquired in the offseason in a three-team transaction involving the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks, who acquired his services at the 2013 NBA Draft.

Muscala is in elite company as one of the few ballplayers to garner 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his Division One NCAA career.
