The Admiral weighs in on Kawhi's departure from San Antonio.

San Antonio Spurs legend and Hall of Famer David Robinson joined ESPN's The Jump with Rachel Nichols yesterday afternoon to discuss Kawhi Leonard's departure from San Antonio and provide details about his interactions with the 27-year old All-Star. Robinson, who spent his entire 14-year career with the Spurs, says he tried to reach out to Leonard "several times" but never heard anything back.

In speaking with Nichols about Leonard's fall out with the Spurs, Robinson described it as "one of the oddest situations I think I've seen since I've been in pro basketball."

"He really, he's a hard guy," Robinson said Monday on ESPN's The Jump with Rachel Nichols. "He's just quiet. He doesn't ... I've reached out to him several times and just never hear anything back from him.

"I think the whole time he's been here [in San Antonio], I've talked to him maybe a handful of times, and I can count on one hand how many words he's really said to me. So he's just a quiet guy, and I think that that's made it difficult, I think, for all parties to really understand each other in this process."

"I mean, it's one of the oddest situations I think I've seen since I've been in pro basketball," Robinson said. "He's a hard guy to understand. He's a hard guy to read."

While DeMar DeRozan has released a statement thanking the fans of the Toronto Raptors since the blockbuster trade, Leonard has not yet commented on the deal, although he did pose for a photo with Raptors GM Masai Ujiri over the weekend.
