In its third season, USA Network’s “Queen Of The South” series will be welcoming a new cast member in Remy Ma. The Bronx emcee was in attendance during a special event on Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard as fans were treated to an all-white affair featuring a panel discussion from the cast and a performance from Reminisce herself.
Her performance of tracks like “Conceited,” “Lean Back,” and the Grammy-nominated “All The Way Up” would arrive shortly after cast mates discussed what’s to come of the third season of the series centered around protagonist Teresa Mendoza, portrayed by Alice Braga. For those unfamiliar with the series, it is an English-language adaptation of the popular La Reina del Sur telenovela series about Mendoza taking on the male-dominated drug cartel in Mexico.
““When we first started developing the show the idea was there’s a woman who comes to America penniless and she will rise to become one of the biggest cartel leaders in the world and I would just say keep watching,” said executive producer David T. Friendly of the show’s direction and success so far.
As for Remy, she will guest star as Vee, an “efficient” member of the security detail for Chicago drug lord Devon Finch. Currently, Remy’s only experience on the small screen comes from her roles on VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop: New York reality series as well as her occasional appearance as a guest host on the daytime talk show “The Real.” The third season of “Queen Of The South” debuts Thursday, June 21st and may very well point to a bright future for Remy Ma in the scripted realm.
