MTV has been around this long because it knows how to evolve. People complain that the station "doesn't even play music" anymore, but they simply grew with the times. While I too miss the days of music videos and artist interviews, let's be honest. Reality television and shock value pieces dominate popular entertainment stations because that's what the viewers want. If it didn't work, MTV wouldn't be doing it. In fact, MTV has always had a catalog of shows that weren't directly musically related, and we loved it in the 90's and early 00's.
MTV Network President Chris McCarthy has chosen to dig deep into those nostalgic shows with a new production company called MTV Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV Studios is set to reboot classic shows from the network. Among the shows getting a reboot are Daria and Made. Daria was a cartoon about a sarcastic and somewhat pessimistic teenage girl whose dry humor would fit perfectly into today's social landscape. Daria was a character from the Beavis and Butt-Head show that was given her own spinoff that lasted for five seasons. MTV Studios will also be bringing back The Real World, their most popular and successful reality television series throughout the 90's and early 00's. MTV will shop their rebooted shows to other networks and streaming sites.
