The Los Angeles Lakers will be wearing new Showtime era uniforms this upcoming season, including the primary gold Icon edition, the purple Statement edition and a white Association edition. Each of the uniforms serve as a nod to the 1980s Showtime Era, featuring the number drop shadow and a rounded neckline.
In addition to those three uniforms - which were officially unveiled back in July - there is also a fourth City Edition uniform which leaked today. Nike's City Edition threads typically stray from the traditional uniforms that we see on a regular basis and this Lakers' uniform is no different.
The Lakers haven't officially unveiled the new unis, but The Ringer shared some early images of the threads today, revealing a purple uniform with black pinstripes and black and gold font. The jerseys pay homage to Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson, which is why there's a "32" and an "M" on the waistband in the Lakers' font. Additionally, the black pinstripes actually read "SHOWTIME 3X5X" which references Magic's three MVP awards and five NBA titles.
