Whitney Houston's cousin Damon Elliot confided in People Magazine, in response to the Daytona album cover Kanye West acquired for 85k. Although legally binding, Elliot expressed his family's disgust with the decision to use the image for aesthetic purposes. On Kanye's recent turn, Elliot said, "I've watched the train wreck happening, but I didn't think he'd go this far in invading someone's family privacy." If you were wondering whether Kanye West received approval from Whitney's estate, you know have your answer.
Damon Elliot says he found out about Pusha T's Daytona cover depicting Whitney's drug-ridden bathroom, after receiving a panicky call from his daughter. "She was (daughter) frantic. She sent me this picture from the album cover and I immediately got sick to my stomach because it took me right back to six years ago," says Elliot.
Damon Elliot, himself a person in the industry, had previously collaborated with Kanye West on a song for Keyshia Cole. He is demanding an apology, and for Kanye West to switch out the distasteful image for something else. Elliot hasn't heard a peep from Whitney's mother Cissy Houston, nor has he broached the subject with his own mother, famous singer Dionne Warwick. For such an insignificant detail such as cover design, was it worth this world of hurt?
