Virgil Abloh as named the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton back in March, and today he revealed his first ever collection with the luxury brand as part of Paris Fashion Week.
In addition to the Louis Vuitton apparel and accessories that were revealed at today's fashion show, Virgil also unleashed his first Louis Vuitton sneaker collab, which comes in the form of a high-top, ankle-strapped silhouette.
Before Abloh's Spring/Summer 2019 show, he spoke to WWD about his new chapter with Louis Vuitton.
“To me, this is like my first show. Everything was sort of leading up to this. This is ‘life’s work’ territory, to distill, to be metaphoric in a poetic way,” he said, before comparing the show to Martin Margiela’s game-changing debut. “For me it’s the same, but I gotta find myself, so this is myself on display and it’s simply about letting people see my silhouette.”
