Yesterday we found out that J. Cole enlisted the help of TLC's T-Boz and Chilli on his upcoming album, Born Sinner, and that he's the only one rapping on his album. However, J. Cole wouldn't share any more details other than that. Now, in a new interview with Fuse TV, Cole has revealed how the TLC collaboration came about, blaming it all on the benefits of good management.
J. Cole first spoke on Missy Elliott's feature on "Nobody's Perfect" from his last album, and explained that he chose Missy because he was a genuine fan of hers. The Fayatteville native echoed similar sentiments about why he chose to have TLC on Born Sinner. Cole said of the group, "TLC, that's a blessing to even have them."
The rapper continued to explain how he was able to connect wtih T-Boz and Chilli.
"That's management right there," J. Cole said. "They made that happen. Same thing with Missy Elliott, sometimes you need management to pull those favors and make those calls. They got me in touch, they loved the song, they loved the muisc. I got T-Boz in L.A., she came by the studio, I got her part. And I got Chilli in Atlanta. Just incredible experience getting them there."
