According to both the man himself and his closest confidante, Jay Critch's much anticipated Hood Favorite is dropping in July. The BK rapper first updated his fans on the pending status of his album in April, telling them it was well "on the way," all in an effort to be consistent this summer with a planned agenda of video drops, the aforementioned album, and a Rich Forever project with his mates Rich the Kid and Famous Dexter.
Last month, Jay Critch teased solo potential when he debuted "Thousand Ways," which many thought was enough to land him an elusive spot on the 2018 XXL Freshman List. The publication invariably made a few glaring omissions, Jay Critch included. Critch initially felt slighted by the magazine given the effort he put towards his pitch, other rappers seemingly landing spots based on popular demand. In the end he decided to look past the snub, touting himself a "vet" in the game, and refocusing his attention on the release of Hood Favorite.
The anticipation over Jay Critch's Hood Favorite album is also centered on the fact his output is scattered across several mixtapes, some under fairly miscellaneous tags. His recent output, including his single with Wifisfuneral, and the work he did one year ago on The Rich Forever Way all suggest he's taken a valuable step in his progression as an artist.
