Tiger-Cats trade Manziel to Montreal, where he'll reunite with college coach.

Johnny Manziel has reportedly been traded from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to the Montreal Alouettes, where he will now reunite with coach Mike Sherman, who recruited him to Texas A&M back in 2011. The 25-year old quarterback joined the Canadian Football League this season but has yet to appear in a game as the Tiger-Cats have rolled with Jeremiah Masoli, who tied a CFL record with nine straight 300-yard passing games before the team's Week 5 bye, according to ESPN.

As part of the Manziel trade, Hamilton acquired defensive end Jamaal Westerman, wide receiver Chris Williams and two first-round draft picks (2020, 2021) from the Alouettes in exchange for Manziel and offensive linemen Tony Washington and Landon Rice.

"We have acquired an exceptional quarterback with undeniable talent," Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed said in a statement, per ESPN. "With his great mobility, his athletic abilities and his instinct we believe that he will have a positive impact on our offence."

According to ESPN, Alouettes starting quarterback Drew Willy left Saturday's 25-8 loss to the Calgary Stampeders with a hand injury, and was replaced by backup Matt Shiltz. Montreal was already without quarterback Jeff Mathews for four to six weeks because of a foot injury. The Alouettes are currently sitting in last place in the CFL's East Division with a 1-4 record, including an offense that ranks last in the league in points scored and rushing yards, is tied for last in turnovers, and is seventh of nine teams in passing yards.

Manziel signed a two-year deal in the CFL, meaning he won't be eligible to return to the United States to play football until 2020, assuming he's not released.
