The news coming out of the Pittsburgh Steelers camp has been conflicting, to say the least. Originally it was reported that Antonio Brown requested a trade from the team after a heated exchange with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at practice. The dispute led to Brown not playing in the final game of the season. Now though, despite Brown's cryptic tweets about joining other teams, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is saying Brown never requested a trade.
According to ESPN, Tomlin spoke on the incident at a press conference saying:
"Woke up Sunday morning, got a call from his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who expressed that he was feeling better and would be able to participate. I outlined to Drew that decisions weren't made like that, but I would be interested in visiting with him at the stadium prior to the game, but playing wasn't on the menu."
Brown's behavior on social media has been contradictory to what Tomlin stated on Wednesday. George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers tweeted at Brown as a ploy to recruit him. Brown then replied to that tweet with a starry-eyed emoji.
The Steelers wide receiver also posted a motivational message on Twitter captioning the image with the words "Happy New Year. Be great."
Stay tuned for any updates on the situation.
