The universally loved Shark Week has returned to Discovery Channel, and the special series brought along a big star with them this time. Shark Week began in the late 80's as a way to dispel violent misconceptions about sharks. Since then, it has become an annual hit project that takes viewers to the depths of the sea to visit the massive animals.
Shaquille O'Neal never misses his chance in the spotlight, and so it made sense when he announced that he was joining Shark Week for a segment called Shaq Does Shark Week. The NBA legend teamed up with actor Rob Riggle to get up close and personal with sharks. Shaq descended into the ocean in a 12 feet tall by 6 feet wide cage, but one lucky shark was able to infiltrate the enclosure. Both Shaq and the shark were removed from the cage by experts and no harm was done.
Shaq returned to the water again after the scary experience to walk around freely with Rob Riggle. The two men dive into a shark enclosure and after fearfully grabbing Riggle's hand, Shaq is led deeper into shark territory. To be fair, Shaq is about the size of (or bigger) than most of the sharks he is surrounded by.
