Idris Elba waves to the crowd during the The Best FIFA Football Awards Show at Royal Festival Hall on September 24, 2018 in London, England.
Elba enters the "Fast" universe.

The Fast & Furious franchise keeps getting bigger. It's now at the point where A-list actors are getting involved (Charlize Theron was the villain in Fast 8). Theron won't be the only superstar who gets to torture the gasoline-fueled anti-heroes, as Idris Elba is set to join the cast. Although Elba may not go toe to toe with the likes of Vin Diesel or Tyrese, he'll still have his hands full with Dwyane Johnson and Jason Statham.

Johnson and Statham will be getting their own Fast & Furious spin-off called Hobbs & Shaw. Both characters were antagonists to Vin Diesel and his team at first, but ended up helping the Fast crew over time. Now, they will be putting their own differences aside (maybe) to battle Elba. Johnson took to Instagram to share a first look at Elba on set, and the English actor looks as threatening as ever. Dressed in a high tech assassin outfit that looks like it belongs in a comic book film, Elba is surrounded by his cronies as they raise their guns cautiously. "I learned a long time ago (when I was a very sinful eyebrow raising villainous man in the crazy world of pro wrestling;) that heroes are only as great as their greatest villains," wrote Johnson as the caption for the picture. He also reveals Elba's character's name to be Brixton, which sounds like the veteran actor will be using his original accent for the flick. Directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, John Wick), Hobbs & Shaw hits theaters on July 26, 2019.
