The Atlanta Hawks' season-long recognition of 50 years in the city it has called home since 1968, includes brand new "City Edition" uniforms that feature a black-and-gold color combination uniquely designed to honor the team’s first half century in the ATL.
The Hawks will debut the new threads tonight, November 9 when they host the Detroit Pistons at State Farm Arena. In addition to the newly unveiled uniform, the Hawks will also be playing on their first-ever commemorative court, a 50th Anniversary black-and-gold floor.
“Knowing this is our golden celebration,” says Melissa Proctor, Hawks chief marketing officer (H/T SportsLogos), “we wanted to incorporate gold in the mark and on the court and have it stand out. The simplicity of black and white and letting gold stand out was important to us.”
According to the Hawks press release, the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free, co-branded rally towel courtesy of Budweiser that shows off the black-and-gold floor. Additionally, Atlanta native Lil Scrappy will perform "Forever I Love Atlanta" at halftime.
