NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin sure knows how to get under Steve Smith's skin.
During last night's Thursday Night Football pre-game broadcast, the two NFL Network analysts got into another heated exchange after Irvin suggested that Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco hasn't had a wide receiver he could trust since Anquan Boldin, who played two years for the Ravens from 2010 to 2012. Of course, Smith played for the Ravens from 2014 to 2016 and he wasn't just going to let Irvin's comment slide.
Irvin tried to defend his opinion by bringing up Smith's injury history, which caused him to miss 11 games in three seasons, but Smith was quick to fire back that his stats are better than the former Cowboys great.
“I understand you got the rings, but I passed years ago statistically…,” Smith said to Irvin. “I got a doctorate in route running. You got an associate’s degree, playa.. from a community college.”
During his 16 seasons in the league, Smith racked up 14,731 receiving yards which ranks seventh all-time, while Irvin compiled 11,904 yards in his 12 seasons.
The two got into it last year when Irvin made a joke about Smith's black and grey plaid pants, which led to Smith threatening to whoop Irvin's ass the next time he came to Los Angeles.
