The WWE unexpectedly released Big Cass yesterday, just weeks after the 7'0 superstar returned to action following a torn ACL that he suffered last August. The company said in a brief statement: “WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass).”
Of course, there's more to the story than that.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, there are reportedly several reasons why the WWE terminated Big Cass' contract, including an incident on SmackDown Live where Cass went against the directive of backstage officials and the head honcho Vince McMahon. In a segment featuring a little person dressed up as fellow superstar Daniel Bryan, Big Cass allegedly went off script by extending the beatdown beyond what was planned.
Per Pro Wrestling Sheet,
"We’re told Cass was directed to be done with the attack after hitting the impersonator with a big boot, but the wrestler asked if he could take it further with a beatdown. Backstage officials said no, but BC felt strongly about doing so and took the issue up with Vince McMahon … who also shot him down."
According to Sports Illustrated, Big Cass was also drinking during the recent European tour and had "attitude issues," including a specific incident on the WWE bus. According to reports, the bathroom lock on the bus was broken, but Cass didn’t realize it and thought he was being pranked. He was stuck inside and ultimately broke down the door, which meant others had to use the bathroom afterward with no door.
Between the alleged attitude issues and his going against Vince McMahon's plans, Cass is no longer with the WWE, just like his former tag team partner Enzo Amore.
