Ariana's last studio album Sweetener dropped at end of August and the singer is already nearing the end of the creative process for her next full-length effort. She informed her fans via Twitter of her progress via Twitter: "hi from the booth. finishin up."
Billboard is describing the LP's sonic palette as “deep, bass-driven bangers with trap beats alternating with airy, sad ballads” and “more adventurous than anything she has ever released.” They also confirm that at least one of its songs was written about Mac Miller.

Savan Kotecha, an award-winning songwriter who has worked with Jeremih, The Weeknd and Madonna, has a front seat in the pop star's studio action. He hopped on social media to comment on her skills: "What a blessing to listen to a genius at work." He later added even more praise for the "thank u, next" artist claiming that her next album is "an example of a once in a generation talent at the peak of her powers both as a vocalist and a writer."
A tipsy Ariana thanked him for his encouragement: "hello i’m crying and i’m one too many glasses in to be reading this rn tbh. love and appreciate u sm. thank u for encouraging my honesty & inspiring me to be a braver writer. i feel so dreamy and grateful rn. hurry yo ass up @republicrecords."
The project's release date has yet to be announced. Ariana's Sweetener tour launches on March 19, 2019.
