During Notre Dame's brutal 30-3 loss to the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff semifinal this past weekend, several members of the Georgia Bulldogs sent out tweets bashing the committee for ranking the Fighting Irish as a top-four team.
Instead of playing in the semi-final on Saturday, the Bulldogs were invited to the AllState Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night... where they suffered a 28-21 loss to the Texas Longhorns. As seen in the post embedded below, UGA's tweets about not being a top-four team don't look so good today.
Following last night's loss at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, several members of the team were asked about their twitter activity over the weekend.
"I don't know," junior tight end Isaac Nauta said when asked about the tweets. "Probably should have kept our mouth shut on that one but, like I said, I still believe we're the better team and they played better than us tonight. Hats off to them. They did a good job. They scheme well to stop us."
"They out there so we said what we said and we meant what we said, we just didn't come out here and prove it tonight," said senior wide receiver Terry Godwin.
Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Solomon Kindley added that he thought some of his teammates' tweets were 'kind of crazy.'
"I don't do the social media stuff. When I saw that, I was like, 'that's kind of crazy' because you've got to play first before you tweet anything. You never take a man lightly. I thought that internet stuff was crazy."
