Knicks fans would be wise to focus their attention elsewhere.

Kemba Walker has had to consider his future away from Charlotte for several reasons. First off, unless the Hornets extend his contract Walker is set to become a free agent after the 2018-2019 season. Secondly, Charlotte who seem to be stuck in a never-ending vortex of mediocrity, have discussed the option to trade him for assets before his deal expires. But even if his short term future lies in Charlotte, the question of an eventual return to his hometown of New York will always persist.

The Hornets' starting point guard to the media following his appearance at the NBPA kids camp at Pier 36 in New York City. Local media reps couldn't resist asking the question yet again, but to their surprise Kemba doesn't seem all that inclined or optimistic that he'll ever play in New York, much less for the Knicks, the team he rooted for as a child.

"I’ve been hearing it for years now — the Knicks," Walker answered when the question was asked. "Every time I come home, it’s, ‘When are you coming home to the Knicks?’ MSG is a special place, man. The Knicks are a special team. Of course, I’ve been a Knicks fan growing up, always rooted for the home team. But I really can’t see myself in a Knicks jersey." Walker capped off the discussion by reaffirming a future with the Charlotte Hornets as his first option, but he wouldn't rule out a return, albeit by the slimmest of margins.
