Drake has a steady stream of Wu-Tang Clan references on his new album, Nothing Was The Same, and he's taking things to next level by getting the Wu on the remix to his "Wu-Tang Forever" tribute. U-God is one of the Wu affiliates who will appear on the remix, and recently spoke to MTV about it.
One of Drizzy's Wu-Tang references on NWTS is a line about listening to Capadonna, and U-God reveals that Capadonna and Drake actually have a joint they recorded together way back when (meaning, before Drake was famous).
"Capadonna did a song with Drake before y'all even knew Drake. Cap's still got the song, he got the record," the rapper revealed, saying it's still in the stash.
He went on to talk about his verse on the "Wu-Tang Forever" remix, saying he wrote it in a rush.
"I put my verse. I'm too rough, I'm too raw. I had to write my thoughts fast, being down with the Clan it gave me the skill to write fast," U-God explained. "We only had two hours in the studio to write this joint, 'cause we was on tour when we got the record...I didn't hear the beat til I got there, so I didn't get a chance to marinate with it. So I just threw my thoughts how I felt, I was saying some murderous ish, I was saying some rawness. And now that I listen to the joint now, I'm like damn, he was talking 'bout a broad, I mighta been too rough for y'all man."
He added, "Me, Cappa and Masta Killa, we went in," but when asked if Inspectah Deck would appear on the remix, he responded, "I dunno, man."
