23 largely unavailable Prince albums were given a proper digital release Friday, Variety reports. The large collection of material was originally released between 1995 and2010, and includes projects such as The Gold Experience, 3121 and Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. Also included in the collection is the compilation Prince Anthology 1995-2010. All albums are now available across major streaming services and digital service providers, many of which making their debut for stream and download. They have been released through Sony and Prince's estate.
in 2021, Sony/Legend will acquire distribution rights to 12 non-soundtrack Prince albums, including many classics such as Sign ‘O’ The Times and 1999. Warner will maintain the rights to soundtracks like Purple Rain and Batman.
