Will.i.am's new album, #willpower, officially dropped five days ago, but the rapper is already in trouble over some of his production credits, or lack-there-of.
A full album stream of #willpower was made available for fans via YouTube the other week, and shortly thereafter, it was noticed by many that one of Will's song ("Let's Go" featuring Chris Brown) sounded eerily similar to a song by House producers Arty & Mat Zo ("Rebound").
As the controversy over the song continues to broil, Will.i.am decided to come out in the open and admit that he did steal the beat, but he's hoping it'll all work out.
While on KIIS FM Will explained, "I'm a fan of Arty. I think he's great and the world needs to know about how talented those guys are. It's sad that it's turned into a fiasco but hopefully it's resolved because I'm a fan of those guys to the point where I wrote to their instrumental."
Will said he thought the licensing issues had already been taken care of for the track, and added, "We're fixing it now."
We'll have to see if the producers are as easy-going as Will is being about all this. Listen to both tracks below to hear the similarities.
