Cassius Williams faces death penalty if convicted.

The son of former Dallas Cowboys lineman Erik Williams has reportedly been arrested in connection with a double murder in Texas. According to TMZ Sports, 20-year old Cassius Williams and another man were arrested and each charged with two counts of capital murder in the shooting deaths of two teenagers in Mesquite, TX on June 12.

The report states that officials believe the two victims were attempting to sell marijuana to Williams and his friend, when the two suspects pulled out guns and in an attempt to rob them. Shots were fired during the dispute and the two alleged dealers were murdered.

More details, according to Mesquite News,

"On June 12 Mesquite Police Department received several reports of gunfire in the area of Gus Thomasson Road at Whitson Way. Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot victims. Jacob Bradley Hollett, 19, of Mesquite was found with several gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a gray Nissan. Nearby, Dalton James Prater, 18, of Fate, was found shot to death sitting in the driver’s seat of a red Dodge pickup truck. Hollett was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries."

"The suspects met with the victims under the pretense of buying marijuana from the victims. Suspect #1 produced a handgun and demanded the drugs. Hollett, the first victim, attempted to drive away and was shot numerous times. Prater, the second victim, was sitting nearby in the red pickup. Suspect #1 then shot Prater, striking him several times. Suspect #1 then entered the suspect vehicle and suspect #2 drove the vehicle away from the scene."

Capital murder is essentially the same as 1st degree murder, and if convicted, it carries the death penalty. Bonds have been set at $500,000 for each charge, totalling $1 million for each suspect.
