Former Buffalo Bills lineman Richie Incognito was being held for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation on Wednesday following an altercation at a Florida gym, according to reports. Police were called to investigate a disturbance at a fitness center in Florida involving Incognito, which resulted in the 34-year old lineman being held for the evaluation under the provisions of Florida's mental health laws.

According to TMZ Sports, the altercation took place early Wednesday morning, when Incognito allegedly threw a tennis ball at another gym member "for no reason" before tossing a dumbbell as well. The alleged victim says the 4-time Pro Bowler was "rambling about the government and screaming at the man to get off my f*cking playground," according to TMZ.

Incognito "retired" from the NFL in April citing health reasons and was ultimately placed on the Bills' reserve/retired list. At the time, Incognito told the Buffalo News, "It's been a long career. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. Nothing I can't restore with some balance, but the stress is killing me." However, it appears his intentions were to be released by the Bills so he could pursue opportunities with other teams for his 12th NFL season.

Buffalo officially released Incognito on Monday, making him a free agent.
