Wiz Khalifa just released his 4/20 EP, Live In Concert, with Curren$y, but it seems he's taking a note from his prolific counterpart, and already gearing up to release his follow up to O.N.I.F.C., which dropped only last December. In an interview with DJ WHoo Kid, Khalifa spoke of his reasons behind deciding to drop another project so soon, as well as speaking on Juicy J's new project.
Wiz revealed that he had no reason not to release new material if he feels inspired to. "I figure why wait" he said, adding, "If i feel the need to get it out there, I'mma just go head and do it... I'm not gonna wait just for the sake of making people wait."
On whether the rapper had a lot of material on the backburner, he revealed that while he did, he'd prefer to write new songs. "I do got a ton of songs, but I don't like to use my old stuff because I change up my flow." he revealed, indicating that his subject matter will also change on his new output. "People say I rap about the same thing all the time, but I change up what I rap about a lot."
On Juicy J's Taylor Gang debut, Wiz revelealed a new big feature that will appear on the album. “He's got songs with like Justin timberlake,” he said, bringing to light that Juicy and Timberlake will be working together again after the Three 6 Mafia feature on Justin's FutureSex/LoveSounds project. Khalifa confirmed that while it will have some pop leanings, Stay Trippy is "a real hood album too."
The Pittsburgh rapper stressed that Juicy was working hard on mixing the classic Three 6 sound with more forward-looking material, saying, "he's really breaking his back to give it like that old sound mixed with the new." Khalifa insisted that it would be tastefully done, explaining it would be "nothing forced or anything like that," and that J is just trying to "make it a real well rounded project."
