Last year, Summer Walker arrived with her debut Last Day of Summer effort and found considerable success with project standout and single "Girls Need Love." The track is a nod towards the now-characteristic vulnerability and candor of Walker's catalog and such elements persist as the Atlanta siren returns with her latest CLEAR EP.
Outfitted in four takes total, CLEAR is a projet of live recordings from Summer's vault, featuring soulful and full-bodied cuts reminiscent of a good old-fashioned MTV Unplugged session ("Woman's Work," anyone?). The effort comes attached to a visual element in which Summer and her band perform the selections from inside of the famed AirBnb treehouse situated in the Buckhead area Atlanta. It's a fitting backdrop to sounds that draw a clear comparison to the neo-soul pioneers of the early aughts as Summer and company carefully bounce off of one another in a beautiful instance in which listeners are introduced to the raw and unfiltered sounds that brought Summer to the forefront in the first place.
