On November 17, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the Syracuse Orange at Yankee Stadium in the annual "Shamrock Series," a Notre Dame football neutral site tradition that first kicked off in 2009. As they've done in previous Shamrock Series games, the Fighting Irish will be wearing never before seen alternate uniforms for the special occasion - and this time they're using the storied New York Yankees franchise as inspiration.
Notre Dame officially unveiled their 2018 Shamrock Series uniforms today, revealing pinstripe detailing on the pants, sleeves, gloves, cleats and helmet as a nod to the iconic Bronx Bombers jerseys. In addition to all of the pinstriped flair, the jerseys also feature "Notre Dame" spelled out across the chest in the Yankees cursive font and the block numbers on the jersey match those seen on Yankees uniforms.
The Irish are 8-0 in "Shamrock Series" games, which began with a 2009 victory against Washington State at the Alamodome in San Antonio and most recently featured a 44-6 thumping over Army at the same venue. The 2018 showdown against Syracuse at Yankee Stadium will kickoff at 2:30pm ET on November 17, airing on NBC.
