In Los Angeles, California you may have seen the work of Freehand Profit, who describes his work as being his own lane, where art & hip hop meet. Inspired by Noah Scalin's "Skull-A-Day, he ventured away from painting and translated his art into the "Mask 365" project in 2010. Having trouble with paint on the gas masks, Freehand Profit searched for a new material and found an old Gucci purse that a friend's mother was throwing out. That was the true birth of the developed style we see today.
Profit, who calls himself "The Hip Hop Nerd" let us know why he gave himself the nickname. The artist explained how it was the name of one of his blogs where he could just be nerdy about hip hop.
