Black Panther. Fahrenheit 451. Creed II. Does Michael B. Jordan slow down? The answer to that question should be obvious, no he does not. Since Jordan captivated audiences as a young drug dealer on The Wire, he has only gotten better as the years passed. He's played the hero and the villain (just like Chris Evans, Jordan was redeemed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after bombing as the Human Torch) and now he will step into the world of anime.
According to Vartiey, Jordan has signed on to star as the lead hero in the upcoming anime series gen: Lock. The series is being brought to life by Rooster Teeth, the same company behind the popular anime RWBY. Jordan will play Julian Chase, a hero who protects Earth's last free society in an ongoing war. Chase suits up as a pilot, and uses a mecha suit (think Pacific Rim or Gundam) to fight in the war. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society Productions, is co-producing gen: Lock alongside Rooster Teeth.
“Michael’s visionary career choices and commitment to meaningful entertainment, not to mention his love of anime, line up perfectly with what drives Rooster Teeth,” stated head of Rooster Teeth Animation Gray G. Haddock. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to do some cool sci-fi storytelling together.” The series will air exclusively on Rooster Teeth’s streaming service called First, with subscriptions starting at $4.99 per month.
