At this point of the week, our Twitter timelines are exhausted after all they've been through. Between J. Cole's Q&A session yesterday and Kanye's weeklong tweet spree, we've spent the last five days on the social medium and our eyes are tired. Right on cue, President Donald Trump has swooped in and tweeted once again about the man who called him his "brother," Kanye West. Proudly rocking his "Make America Great Again" cap this week, Kanye has reemerged on social media to shout his love for Donald Trump from the rooftops. The President had previously thanked Ye for his support, and now he is remarking how great of an impact he has had.
Active on Twitter himself, Trump released a statement on Ye's kind words and fight against the "thought police," writing, "Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community." The President elaborated by praising himself and his campaign: "Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades - Legacy Stuff!" Chance the Rapper spoke out in support of his Chicago buddy Kanye, saying that not all people of color need to be Democrats. It is possible that Chance has also gotten a shout-out in Trump's tweet as he wrote, "Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history)."
Regardless of your political attitudes, it is remarkable for the current President of the United States to be praising one of the most influential artists of our generation. What do you think of the current situation involving Donald Trump and Kanye West?
