The Joker is coming to theaters next Fall.

The Joker is the most infamous villain in all of comic book lore. The Clown Prince of Crime is Batman's greatest enemy, and has even ventured into other hero's stories to cause some damage. For example, in the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us, The Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane, which ends up turning the hero into a villain. The Joker's maniacal ways have always captured audiences. Yesterday (July 18), was the ten year anniversary of The Dark Knight. Although Heath Ledger may have given the most memorable performance of the Joker to date, DC is continuing the Clown Prince's on-screen legacy with two new films.

The first film, which will take place in the DCEU (along with Justice League, Wonder Woman, etc.), will star Jared Leto. The second film, which exists in its own universe, will star Joaquin Phoenix. Phoenix's Joker film is set to begin filming this Fall, and according to VarietyWarner Bros. has announced a release date for the movie. Comic-Con San Diego is currently kicking off, and Warner Bros. made the announcement ahead of their presentation in the legendary Hall H on Saturday. October 4, 2019, is the date they have carved out for the film.
