Kid Cudi is undoubtedly one of the most influential artists over the past 10 years. The rapper's music not only influenced a whole generation of artists but shifted hip hop forever. One rapper in particular who credits Kid Cudi for his influence is Travis Scott. it's been well-documented over time and the rapper finally got to collab with Cudder on his last album, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. With Kanye West and Kid Cudi's Kids See Ghost coming in June, Apple Music tapped released an "Influence Of Kid Cudi" segment. Scott was tapped as one of the guests for the show and spoke on Kid Cudi, his influence and why he's one of the GOATs.
While many will say Nas or Jay-Z are the greatest rappers in the game, Travis Scott says that Kid Cudi is highly overlooked. During his interview on Beats1, he said that Kid Cudi can compete with some of the best rappers in the game while still maintaining his own swag.
"I idolize Kid Cudi a lot, you know? That's like my favorite artist." He said. "I think he could go bar to bar for like, some people think like Jay-Z is the best rapper, I feel like he could compete with that and still, you know, have his own wave."
He further explained why he fucks with Kid Cudi so much.
"He created a world for kids like me who wasn't just like the ultimate like drug dealer. He created that vibe and that planet where you can mack on bitches and still be smooth but still feel like you're the king scientist." He said.
