Nicki Minaj said herself in the last episode of Queen Radio that she was having difficulty getting through to Geoffrey Owens, after pledging to donate $25K as a compassionate gesture. But a conflicting report is coming out of TMZ, they've been told she's made no effort at all to reach out. As you may recall, Geoffrey Owens, the former Cosby Show actor photographed by two women who spotted him working in a New Jersey Trader Joe's, has had his private life completely disrupted.
On the surface, working in a grocery store is respectable way to make a living, but as you know the Internet is quite the unforgiving place. Nicki Minaj was the loudest voice in the public sphere to pledge her support to Owens, through monetary means, but so far nothing has yet to materialize.
Sources close to TMZ say that Geoffrey is not interested in receiving a handout, their belief is that a payout would be demeaning to the actor. Those sources also indicate that Owens has not received a call from Nicki or her reps.
Other "benefactors" like Tyler Perry were able to reach Geoffrey Owens, after offering the actor a 10-episode run on The Haves and the Have Nots, which he accepted. Since then Owens has been able to land a gig on CBS' NCIS: New Orleans. Sometimes the best way to empower someone is to invest in their future. By all accounts, Nicki Minaj may have the very best of intentions in the matter, precluding any foul play.
